Barwon Water's infrastructure must be:

  • designed and managed by Barwon Water accredited consultants
  • built by Barwon Water accredited contractors.

Accreditation verifies the capabilities and competency of the professionals who conduct water and sewer works in our service area.

If you are a developer, you must not use unaccredited providers, or undertake any services and works yourself.

Apply for Barwon Water accreditation

Barwon Water accreditation is managed through our online accreditation platform, Rapid Contractor Management.

To request an invitation to apply, email development@barwonwater.vic.gov.au.

When you request an invitation to apply, we will send you a link to submit your application through Rapid Contractor Management.

Before you apply

In the application, we will ask you to provide:

  • company and personnel details
  • accreditation categories
  • details about three recent relevant contracts
  • acknowledgement of past or pending conformance issues
  • mandatory documentation:
    • insurance certificates
    • management system certificates
    • qualification certificates.

Response time

Please allow up to 20 working days for our initial response.

What happens next

If your application is accepted, we will ask you to sign and return an accreditation deed.

Your Barwon Water accreditation will officially commence when we receive and sign your deed.

We will then add your details to our current list of accredited providers.

Rapid Contractor Manager is a user-friendly portal that makes it easy for you to apply for and maintain your Barwon Water accreditation.

In MyRapid Portal, you can easily update company and staff details, as well as upload and store all accreditation documents, such as licenses and certificates.

We will also send you automatic expiry reminders for both your Barwon Water accreditation and separate accreditation documents, so you never miss a renewal deadline.

Manage your Barwon Water accreditation

You can update your details and submit documentation through your Rapid Contractor Management account.

You are responsible for maintaining current records, including:

  • company details
  • key personnel
  • mandatory documentation:
    • insurance certificates
    • management system certificates
    • qualification certificates.

Expiring documents

We will notify you by email 30 days before any mandatory documentation is due to expire.

Changes to key personnel

To update your key personnel in MyRapid Portal:

  • select 'Company' > 'E-forms' > choose the relevant document
  • open application form and update key personnel
  • upload required documents and submit.

We will invite you to renew your Barwon Water accreditation 30 days before your accreditation expires.

We will email you a link to renew your accreditation through your Rapid Contractor Management account.

We will suspend your accreditation if the quality of your work does not meet Barwon Water’s standards.

To lift a suspension, you will need to demonstrate that you have made changes to improve the quality of your work.

The accredited consultant acts as an agent of the developer and administers the project.

  • management of works and services, including
    • payments
    • notifications
    • testing
    • design and construction auditing
    • completion of works
  • selection of contractors
  • occupational health and safety of the accredited consultants, accredited contractors and their respective subcontractors.

Barwon Water periodically issues invitations for co-funded tenders through Buying for Victoria.

These opportunities are open to accredited contractors.

We will advise you how to register for tenders when we issue your contractor accreditation.
